Columbia has been famous for its craze for football and for its drug lords. From the 1980s to the early 2000s, Mexico was ruled by the dark underworld- the druglords. However, there was a Drug Lady surviving in this business amongst all these drug lords. Uber Trujilo is the son of the famous Columbian drug lady Griselda Blanco.
As we all know, the ending of evil is bad, and the final chapter of criminals is always a dark dead end. So what happened to Uber Trujilo and his brothers? Are they still alive? Today, we will read about the life and journey of Uber as the son of one of Columbia and the world’s most wanted.
Who is Uber Trujilo?
Uber is the second son of Griselda Blanco. He is one of the four sons of Griselda, the other three being Dixon, Osvald Trujilo, and Michael Corleone Blanco. He was born in Columbia on a date that is still unknown to the world.
Dixon, Uber, and Osvaldo were the children of Griselda, which she had from her first husband- Carlos Trujillo. The youngest child of Griselda was Michael Corleone Blanco, which she had from her second husband. The childhood of Uber and his brothers was not normal. Instead of giving them a normal life and education like other kids, Griselda decided to make them a part of her dark world at an early age.
Consequently, Uber was not sent to school but was made to participate in her mother’s endeavors. The kids started taking part in the day-to-day activities of the cartel.
The Black Widow
Griselda Blanco was born in Cartagena and moved to Medellin at the age of three. At the age of 11, she had already kidnapped, ransomed, and shot a child in her neighborhood. Before turning 13, she had become a pickpocket.
At the age of 19, she ran away from her home to escape the sexual assault of her mother’s boyfriend. She reached Medellin, where she resorted to looting people. However, with age, she became aware of the working of the famous drug-dealing business in Columbia and started playing small roles in the same.
In the 1970s-80s, she was a part of the Miami Drug War. This was the time of the peak of the cocaine dealing business, and the drug network from Columbia used to collectively earn $80 million per month solely from the US buyers.
Griselda Blanco was famously called “The Black Widow” because of the death of her three husbands. She had three sons from her first husband and one son from her last husband. She was more ruthless and enterprising than the men in the business and was even suspected of being involved in more than 200 murders! Recently, a mini web series was released on Netflix named Griselda, in which Sofía Vergara played the role of Griselda Blanco.
The Story of the Brothers
Dixon, the eldest brother of Uber, represented the San Fransisco family. He used to move around 660 pounds of cocaine to and fro every month. In 1985, he was caught and arrested by the authorities. In 1986, he was convicted with his mother and Osvaldo in Miami.
Dixon was sentenced to 10 years of jail time in the federal US prison. There, he met Rayful Edmond III, who was also a drug trafficker, completing his life imprisonment in the same prison. Dixon, his brother Osvaldo and Rayful gradually became friends.
All three shared similarities- they were children of a powerful drug lady and were Mama’s boys. Consequently, they started carrying out their unlawful activities from the jail itself. Edmond, who earlier used to bring in cocaine from the Cali Cartel (the largest drug cartel in Columbia), disconnected from them and started his operations with the Blanco brothers.
In early 1992, the brothers were paroled, and they went back to Columbia. Thus, they took their business to new heights and reinstated their operations together. Consequently, their work intensified, and their operations widened.
Is Uber Trujilo Alive?
No member of the Trujilo- Blanco family except for Michael Corleone is alive as of today. Uber’s mother, Griselda Blanco, died at the age of 69 after being shot in the head by an unknown motorcyclist in a butcher shop. His brother Osvald was killed at the age of 25 in a Colombian nightclub. The eldest brother Dixon also faced the wrath of death later in Columbia itself.
The fate of Uber Trujilo was similar to that of his brothers and parents. He was also killed in Columbia at the early age of around 20 years. However, who killed him and why is still unknown to the public.
The sole survivor of the family is Michael Corleone Blanco, who was the youngest son. He is today 42 years old. While talking to a newspaper in an interview, Michael confessed that his mother was no saint and was a notorious crime boss for a mother. He said that growing up with her was difficult, and he had to give up a normal childhood because of her.
However, he also acknowledged that all of Griselda’s sons were deeply devoted to her and adored her, including Michael himself. That’s why they can all be called Mama’s boys.
Final Words
The life of Uber Trujilo has been difficult and exciting at the same time. While he and his brothers lived the most lavish lives, their lifespan was short. They were constantly driven by the fear of being hunted either by the police or by their enemies.
They even had to go through some jail time. In the end, death caught them badly, just like any other drug lord.
